When my wife Clare and I married in 1985, we moved to St Albans, where she had grown up. Since then, St Albans has been our home, and we have loved being part of this community for almost four decades, 20 of which we spent in Sandridge, where we still appreciate the natural beauty of our surroundings.
In 2010, I was elected Parish Councillor and held various positions. I served as the Chairman of the Finance Committee, contributed as a member of the Human Resources team, chaired the Planning Committee, and represented the Parish Council at the Hertfordshire Association of Parish and Town Councils. I have also been a dedicated member of the Woodland Park Committee. I left the Parish Council in 2021.
I have been actively involved in local issues, such as opposing the Rail Freight Development and advocating for a new hospital in the North of Watford or the South of St Albans. Unfortunately, some people opposed this vision. Additionally, I have represented Hertfordshire Parish Councils in their opposition to the expansion of Luton Airport.
My political involvement extends beyond the local scene. I have had the honour of serving as the former Chairman of the St Albans Conservative Association and have been active in political campaigns at the local and general election levels.
Outside of politics, my wife Clare and I co-founded a long-term care company in 1994. Today, we employ around 100 dedicated individuals who provide care and support to clients in their homes, including those with complex needs such as spinal injuries and high dependency cases. In this venture, my primary role is to oversee the financial aspects, leading a small team dedicated to ensuring the financial viability of our company.
I am also deeply involved in charitable work, collaborating with numerous Embassies in London. Recently, we organised a conference for the mining and metal industry, which included the participation of the Minister of Mining from Chile and for the last 13 years, I have organised an event with the Latin American Embassies to raise funds for underprivileged children in that region.
One of my passions is creating meaningful connections between Ambassadors, charities, and UK Ministers. Through these connections, I aim to positively impact the causes I hold dear.
Lastly, I hold a Master's in Business Administration. I am proud to have received recognition for my efforts, including an award from the Red Cross in Chile for my dedication to eradicating poverty in the area where I grew up. Additionally, I have been granted the Freedom of the City of London and am a Fellow Member of the Royal Society of Arts.
